Who doesn’t love twins?  Well the LA Market definitely does! This is  just another example of the many niche’s that the LA Market offers. The twins in the Video below are only 15 and 5’7″, yet they are working models! These two girls are marketed together  by NEXT Model management in LA, one of the top agencies for fashion models worldwide.

On my most recent scouting trip I got the chance to ask these working girls a couple questions about their model lives, Seriously could they be any cuter?

I love how they talk like they are one person, anticipating each others responses.  I have always been fascinated with twins, and so is Hollywood.. because twins are always in high demand for TV and Films, especially as infants/kids.  The reason being is infants/kids can only work a certain amount of hours, so it’s always best to have TWO actors booked for one role.

Lots of models have been discovered and started in LA. And even more models flock there every summer to work during summer breaks. If you are not finding success in NY..  start by uploading your snapshots to Modeling Agencies websites. Some of these sites you can upload Video. Make sure the video is quick and simple just like this one.    You can also go to LA for a couple days and hit up all the agencies Open Calls.  Los Angeles is an easier market to get signed and start working because of their wide Variety of fashion and commercial type clients. So you don’t have to be so tall and skinny like the NY market.  Just work hard to keep your body healthy and fit, your skin clear and start taking simple snapshots to show off your beautiful face/smile and body (form fitted clothes.)  and don’t forget to believe you can do this!!!

While in LA casting for Wizard Models in Tokyo. I got the chance to interview with an awesome young LA model, MORGAN DIXON. She is the HOLLISTER GIRL 2011 & 2012, which was shot by the world renowned photographer Bruce Weber!!

Morgan travels a lot between Los Angeles and New York, as well as various other shoot locations. She has been featured in a television commercial National Ad Campaign as the Pure Silk girl, as well as numerous print and catalogue ad campaigns.

Morgan has modeled for many ad campaigns, but just a few are: ABERCROMBIE & FITCH, PURE SILK, HOLLISTER, FOREVER 21, and LUCKY BRAND.

As you can see from her client list and from her advice in the interview below.. Morgan has found her niche as a healthy swimsuit and jeans girl, and she has been in high demand as one of the top working models in the Los Angeles area.

I love how Morgan mentions that modeling is hard work! A lot of models will sign with an agency and think they will be working with the top clients the next week.. it’s a progress and each client and job leads to more jobs, builds your book and once you get in the groove, you start to figure it all out! Great advice..

Not everyone is going to be able to work in New York, but you can always have a great career working in Miami or LA.

Also, you don’t have to be working in LA or NY to shoot with the amazing Bruce Weber. Actually, one of MY first jobs modeling, back in ’99, was with the legendary Bruce.. I can say from experience it was AWESOME and I learned so much that day from working with him!!

WOW!  What an amazing week in Los Angeles..

As most of you know I am the US Scout for an Awesome editorial Agency in Tokyo, called WIZARD MODELS.  I love scouting for this agency because I get the chance to travel  to meet with the top agencies in Los Angeles (NY and Miami too)  and meet with signed models.  I particularly  have such a great time during my casting sessions in LA because LA Models are really down to earth and Cool.

So, I had a blast staying at the Gorgeous Mondrian Hotel on the 10th floor over looking the Hollywood Hills and Downtown LA…

I also brought along my partner in crime..

So, I spent several days meeting with the top agencies in LA and tons and tons of working LA models.. taking their snapshots and Videos.  Agencies in Tokyo and abroad base 99% off your potential to work as a model off of your digital pictures and Video,  because they get to see what you really look like UNEDITED!  So, that’s why it’s so important to make a great first impression.  Clear skin, lean fit body, great attitude and wear something that shows off your frame.

In this Video below, I asked some of the models.. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO WEAR TO YOUR CASTINGS??  I know so many of you ask me this question a lot… so watch this video to get your answers about what LOS ANGELES Fashion models wear to their castings and Go-sees!

Nothing makes me more upset in this business then hearing about aspiring models getting scammed.

There are SO MANY people out there trying to take advantage of your dreams. YOU HAVE to be aware of how the REAL modeling business works.  Here is the cold hard truth guys…    Real working models have agents that book their work for them, they are not on forums looking for photgrpahers!   This is the only way to protect yourself from the scams out there- with an agency.  Models do NOT find their own bookings.  Your #1 goal as an aspiring model is to get signed to a legit & reputable modeling agency.  If you are on modelmayhem.com or have your pictures posted on Models.com or Modelwire.com.. You are simply asking for trouble. You are saying, “I am naive and I do not understand how this business works.” therefore others will take advantage of you.

Now, there  are definite good things about models.com and modelwire.. but if you want to be a model.. In this day and age just send your snapshots directly to the agencies websites or submit to me, real legit modeling agencies and mother agents/scouts do not charge you to get started.

So with all that said…  here is the reason why I am upset today.  One of the models that follows this blog and I met with in NY, she is an aspiring model, set up an account at modelwire.com.  Of course there are really good agencies that can contact you from being on this site,, but you are also exposing yourself to everyone else to contact you.  So, this girl was so excited that a photographer wanted to shoot her.. she had her radars up partially because she emailed me this letter (below) to ask me why the photographer was asking her for ALL her personal info..   Check this out!

Make-up, hair etc would be taken cared of at the Studio as we are presently deliberating with some studio agents over location, remember you can come along with anyone of your choice. I love how they quote the bible so that you think they can’t possibly be scamming you!  THIS IS A SCAM!   Actualy Modelwire is aware of this shister sending this email to the models on the site and is currently being investigated but come on! Imagine a young model so desperate to work and make$2000, believes this crap and sends in all her info.  People always try to take advantage of the naive- so please do not list your photos on these sites! Especially Model Mayhem, I have heard too many horror stories of models taken advantage of on this site. It’s a waste of time.

So,  Of course there is no photoshoot.. these people are just trying to get your bank details, picture of you, etc so they can use steal your identity or money but STILL….  My whole point to you is that.. YOU- the aspiring model should not be looking for your own work. You should be 100% focused on getting your body fit, your skin clear and finding the right agencies for your type..    You can not work as a model unless you have an agency.  So this should be your main priority!

Lesson learned?   How many of you would’ve believed this was real?

Please let me know below how you have been scammed in this business.  Let everyone know what to avoid so that they don’t waste their time and money and IDENTITY too!!!

What agency would YOU want to sign with?  Remember that not all models start with the top agency of their choice, If modeling is a career choice for yuo and you are in it for the LONG haul, then sometimes you have to smart with a smaller agency and test and shoot and work your way up.  Several of these boutique agencies have strong working models, so don’t be discouraged if the top of the top don’t offer you a contract.  Sometimes it’s a great idea to work with their sister agencies in LA, Chicago, Boston or Miami first…   The most important thing is to have a Plan, then but it to action right away.

Check out this beautiful  guy I scouted in New York recently..  He was in NY shooting an ad campaign with Ben watts, but had no fashion agency (he’s an actor & his talent agency in Ft.Lauderdale submitted him.) So, I immediately took these snaps below and sent them to the top three modeling agencies for Men in Miami, where he lives.  Ford, Wilhelmina and Next.  They all loved him and he was offered two contracts on the spot.  Chris is now a signed Fashion model with FORD Men.    See how fast this business works? Chris was signed off of these simple snapshots.. agencies can see how photogenic he is and his potential, just from a single photo.

This past weekend I was reminded why all of you love modeling so much AND WHY..  I love this business so much!

There is no other business in the world that you can go to work and meet interesting creative cool people all working together to make you look your best, while inspiring  them all… while having a blast AND getting PA-AID well to do so ! ! !  Name another business please that is more exciting ?  One that requires no formal training at all to start working ? ? ?

Since I devote all my time now to scouting and developing models for Fashion Agencies, I hardly model myself anymore.  So, I chose to do this job because one of my favorite photographers was shooting it.    BEN WATTS!!  Now, a lot of peeps know Ben because he is Naomi Watts Bro… well, hate to break it to you but Ben is a star in his own right.. and all you  real fashionistas know this!   He shoots everything… Victoria Secret and all the hottest mags, models and celebs. So, it really was exciting shooting with him at the Famous Chelsea Milk Studios.  I felt inspired, beautiful and  powerful and I kept thinking GOD I MISS THIS FEELING!!!  LOL    I really had forgotten how fun it is to model.

I was also very excited to have Brent Lavett do my hair. He is one of the most talented hair stylist’s working today and is already creating a lot of buzz in the fashion and beauty world for creating Lavett & Chin Hair products (with his wife).. they are about to drop the best pommade ever made, called No2 Pommade.  This is the best stuff if you want a sexy, glamorous mane, like the Victoria Secret girls he styles!!

Since I was a little girl I have loved fashion and the fashion modeling  business.. a lot like YOU out there I used to look through fashion Magazines imagining and  dreaming of one day working with an amazing team like I did last weekend.  I get it.. you only have ONE life to live, so why in the world would you spend it behind a desk at a boring 9-5 job..  uughh!!! BOR~ING!!  I know YOU are ready to start shooting with top photogs and amazing teams, clients oin exotic locations.

If you think you have what it takes to model.. please do not hesitate to send me your pics!  I would love to make your dreams come true too. This is why I am here. I know the types of models agencies are looking for and  I LOVE helping others to reach their goals of becoming a model.  So, I hope that you trust me to help guide you and answer your questions and offer you good sound advice.  I really wish I had someone helping me understand the business when I was 15, geez I wish the internet was around then.. I think I would’ve saved my parents so much money!!   Well, we live and we learn right?
