Hello Everyone! My name is Lisa Phillips and Thank you so much for checking out my Blog. I am a NYC Fashion Model Scout and Mother Agent based in New York City. I am also a model myself and I have over 15 years experience in this Business, So, I am dedicated to inspiring, educating and helping YOU to live your dreams!!! On this site you will find a wide variety of helpful content, tips, insider model secrets, advice and personal feedback and many topics that will help you on your path of self development and success in the modeling Biz.
This is something that is very dear to my heart. I have been envisioning this for years… trying to figure out how to combine my love for the Fashion Business, modeling, Fashion Photography … discovering new talent… my love of Social Media and how I can empower young people to reach their fullest potential in life!
I feel so blessed with all this knowledge and experience and I just want to give back. This makes me incredibly happy and I love sharing my insights with you. As you will see, I am incredibly passionate about my message and what I do… and that’s what I want to help you to do as well.
This blog has been designed to help inspire and empower you to live your life to the fullest and for you to create the reality you want. You will see wonderful things happen for you if you follow my teachings, work hard, believe in yourself and never give up!
So, I grew up a military brat! The middle child of an older brother and younger sister. My dad was in the Air Force so I grew up moving around a lot. We lived in California, Idaho, Florida, Virginia, England, Germany and I graduated High School in Belgium. In between everywhere we lived my parents took all 3 of us kids on lots of fun trips… traveling all over the states and Europe. This is where I developed my insatiable love of travel. My parents were amazing role models and always encouraged me to do what I love and never give up. I was always the ham… always performing and I loved Acting and Modeling since I was a little girl. I always knew I’d work in this business one day… and I never lost sight of that goal. So, when I was 16, with the help of my mom, I entered Seventeen magazine and YM magazines Covergirl Model search and I qualified for both! I was a top 10 finalist with YM and flew to NY for a week and modeled for YM Magazine (see tearsheet to the right). I had the best time and met Covergirl Niki Taylor… she told me I had a lot of potential in modeling and I was floored!! Actually, the fashion editor liked me and another model so much they asked us to stay and shoot another day! This gave me incredible confidence.
After I came home I did a modeling convention that my parents paid an arm and leg for!! If I had known then what I know now I wouldn’t have bothered with that and I don’t recommend those at all. Even though I did meet several agents… with the internet today you can get in front of the same agents for next to nothing and I will show you how. My parents also drove me to NY to go on open calls… this is also exhausting and if you don’t know the ‘secrets’ it’s a waste of time for everyone. In my junior year of HS we moved to Belgium… I signed with Model’s Office in Brussels and started working with them. From there I would go to London, Amsterdam and Milan. After HS I moved to South Beach~ Miami!! This was the place to be for Models and I lived there for a couple years working. I worked back & forth between LA & Miami and I spent 5 months in Capetown, South Africa and Athens, Greece building my book.
Once My Bookers (agents) felt my book was ready to work in NYC I moved there. NYC is the ultimate test for a model , because as you know if you can make it in NY you can make it anywhere! I started out with Q models (they are an awesome boutique fashion agency) but I always had my heart set on FORD Models. They had already turned me down twice (once when I was 16) but I knew I could be a FORD Model so I went back again… on the 3rd time I went… they signed me!
This is why persistence and believing in yourself is so important. If you know you can do it… keep fighting for it. Most of my Model friends say the same thing… they got turned down many, many times before an agency signed them! Keep your eye on your goals and don’t let go.. Ever!
So, I have been working with Ford ever since, Ford is such a professional, well respected agency in the business that really works hard for their girls (and guys). They have so many different divisions and all types of talent. I am so honored to be represented by them and I would love to help you to get with the agency you dream of.
I have learned through meditation, thankful prayer & my spiritual mentors that you create your own reality. This was always something in the back of my mind. That I am in control of my destiny! Once I believed that… everything started to happen for me and I felt powerful. And now I have this unstoppable desire to help others see just how darn powerful they are inside too. So many of us live in fear and are completely unaware of what we are capable of… if you would just believe you too are powerful… you can have anything you want in your life. Start looking within, do some detective work and investigate who you really are… then you will see how perfect, gorgeous and powerful you are. Embrace what is unique and different about yourself! Own it! If you dream it, my friends… you can achieve it!!
